Hi Tommy , I had a look at your Wohni today and the progress is amazing.I like your idea of a compact unit with low center of gravity and and low roof for clearance as one often encounters overhanging branches. What plans do you have for a wind breaker-protector on your gas burner, It seems a bit open and exposed to the wind. Are you fitting a Easy awn. I am having sides made for my Easy awn for some wind protection, it might be something to think about.I hope all goes well and you have lots of pleasure in your Wohni.
Regards
Clem
Hi Clem, thanks for stopping by.
I agree, it is amazing, they are really working hard. I spoke to Claus Schroeder today and he says that they are right on track, meaning Wohni should be ready for pick up mid-end November.
We are still contemplating about the wind breaker, but there will definitely be one of some sorts. Most probably a flap cover over the entire pull-out kitchen, which will stand up straight while the kitchen is in use.
The awning is also a matter of discussion at this very stage. The idea behind the rough concept, as seen here http://www.wohni.com/uploads/lc70_hubdach_fullcanvas_openfront.jpg, was to use a Howling Moon awning in the bag, order the three sides with it and have the corner piece to the bathroom made by an upholsterer. With that we would have all the options covered, just awning, closed awning and/or entire camper wrapped for longer stays. Schroeder suggests the mechanical awning from Fiamma or so, but I can’t see how that’s going to work - only that it would be easier to deploy. What do you think?
All the best
Tommy
Tommy your concept of awning does look very practical, having a quick awning only, and then add on as you need. The bolt on awnings have the danger of been ripped off by a branch ! The windbreaker around the flame of the gas burner can be a simple fold-up home made job made of aluminum sheeting and a couple of hinges and used when needed whenever the awning is not erected.
Remember my offer for a scenic flight when you come to fetch your vehicle ,although I will only be available till the 19th of November and somehow think that you will only be down here after that.
Kind regards
Clem
Hi Clem, I also have the feeling that it will be more towards the end of November. Will keep you posted.
Best
